Because each Travel team is required to maintain proof of each player’s age, a copy of a birth certificate is required from each player when they are selected to play on a WGSA Travel team.  A copy of a player’s birth certificate might subsequently be presented to the officers/directors of the Hockomock Girls Summer Softball League (HGSSL), or to a competing coach from another town playing in the HGSSL in order to prove the players eligibility to play.  Likewise, when playing in any tournaments (which are generally not part of the HGSSL), a player’s birth certificate may be presented to the tournament director(s) or to a competing coach from some other team playing in that tournament in order to prove player eligibility.
